Online Gaming Communities

Contrary to popular belief, the online arcade gaming community is still as strong as ever. Even in today’s modern graphics-oriented society, there are still a host of dedicated online arcade communities that survive.

These communities have refused to disappear and die, even with today’s technological advances in computer graphics; the communities remain as strong as ever.

Much of this may be due to the fact that online arcade gaming communities still manage to run regular tournaments that offer big cash prizes to winners.

In May 2007, a tournament was held in New York to find the winner of the Pac man championships hosted by none other than Xbox Live.

The tournament winner received 100,000 points from Microsoft and a Pac Man live arcade trophy, but what they really wanted was the Pac Man-inspired Xbox 360 console, which was the only one of its kind in the world.

The finalists came from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Europe, Japan, the Middle East, Asia, Mexico, the United States and Canada. All were selected based on a scoring criteria in Xbox Live Arcade Games.

The online arcade gaming community has benefited from the rise of multiplayer games to be introduced online.

The tight-knit community of online gamers is probably due to the fact that it goes back to another era and continually struggles in the face of all the new competition.

But with many arcade games seeing a resurgence in handheld consoles and apps, it’s safe to say that the online arcade gaming communities are here to stay.

Arcade gaming communities have survived many challenges over the years, but this has made them stronger.

Even though the number of online arcade game members in the community increased due to the introduction of the internet, the community is still a tight-knit affair.
